Did she just read my mind?! Ok, I’m really losing it. I started glancing around the room nervously. It was times like this I wished my apartment had more than one exit.
“Yes, I can read minds. Not all vampires can. Just those of us that are really old.”
“How old are you?” I asked before I could stop myself.
“That’s not polite, Morris,” Shivan said, cocking her head to one side. I grew even more afraid. The last thing I wanted to do was make her mad. Suddenly her superhuman strength, the coldness of her skin and her speed were all making sense. She laughed again and smiled at me, “Don’t worry. I won’t punish you for asking. Not tonight anyway. I’m 415.”
“Seriously?!”
“Yep. Now, do you wanna do this or not? Because if not, I’ve got to find someone else to take a bite out of,” she winked.
“How will you do it?”
“It’s going to sound scary, but don’t be afraid. I won’t kill you. Well, actually, I will but you still get to walk around and have a life. I just drain almost all of the blood out of you until you’re almost dead. Then you suck my blood and fill your body back up. Then you go to sleep. When you wake up in the morning, you’ll be turned. Don’t go out in the sun though. That part is true.”
