Big Brother American Season 23: The Royal Family (Contains Spoilers)

So the Houseguests have been in the Big Brother house for a little over two weeks now. At first, I didn’t think I’d have much to say about this season, but something happened tonight I wanted to get y’all’s opinion on. I’m not going to completely break down what’s happened in the house so far, but I am going to give you a little background so you can understand what I’m talking about.

Because of the rampant racism on the last season of Big Brother (and frankly several other seasons), CBS has instituted a policy that all of its reality show casts must be at least 50% people of color. 16 houseguests move into the Big Brother house and there are exactly 8 people of color in the cast, five of whom are Black, which I was happy to see. I was also happy to see the five Black people on the show quickly make an alliance (and when I say quickly, I mean they made it in the kitchen in like five minutes because they knew how much the rest of the house would talk if all of the Black people spent a significant amount of time together) called The Cookout (LOVE that name!!!).

This season the Houseguests will be working in teams for the first four weeks (I read somewhere it will be for four weeks, but I don’t think this has been confirmed). The house is gambling-themed this year, so the teams are named after card suits…
